Every business has
a story to tell.
I can help you tell yours.
Let me tell you a story…
I have this 'friend.'
She spent 18 years in marketing and communications before landing what felt like her dream role: leading social media for a global firm. Over four years, her team helped grow their LinkedIn from 282,000 to half a million followers. She also coached 200 senior leaders to build their personal brands online, and launched an employee advocacy programme - helping their people grow their confidence on LinkedIn and find their voice.
On paper, things were going brilliantly.
But she kept thinking about the founders she'd meet outside of work - the ones with brilliant businesses and big ambitions who were completely stuck with social media. No strategy, no clarity, no confidence in what they were doing or why.
Around the same time, she published two children's books. And somewhere in the overlap between writing stories for children and building strategies for businesses, something clicked for her. Storytelling wasn't just something she loved. It was the missing piece in how most founders were showing up on social media.
So, she took everything - the strategy expertise, the storytelling instinct, the 18 years of knowing how to make a message land - and built something of her own.
That business is Telling Tales Media.
And yes. That friend is me.
Hi, I’m Emily.
Social Media Strategist, Storyteller and Published Author.
I’ve worked in social media for years, which means I’ve absolutely felt the frustrations you’re feeling right now - how to get your content working for you, what on earth to post this week, and how do I show up without oversharing my life?
Over the years, I’ve learnt a lot about the value of a clear strategy and a strong story - which is why I'm now so passionate about helping founders find a way of doing this in a way that actually works.
A way that saves time, removes the guesswork and means that the hours you do put into social media are genuinely worth it.
3 truths about me
I’m always telling my clients the value of showing up online as their true selves and not hiding behind what they think they ‘should’ say. So - with that in mind - here are three honest truths about me that I truly stand by.
I don't think social media should take over your life.
Coming from someone who works in it - I mean it. I'm a big believer in finding a way to do this that fits around your business and your life, not the other way around. The goal is a strategy that's sustainable, not one that has you glued to your phone at 10pm.
I don't think you need to share your whole life to build a connection.
This is a big one for me. Storytelling isn't about letting everyone into your living room. It's about finding the specific moments that make someone read your post and think "me too." You can keep things professional, keep certain parts of your life private, and still build genuine trust with the right people. I promise. I lead this by example.
I don’t think you need to overcomplicate content. Simple is often best.
A clear thought, an honest moment, a straightforward caption that says exactly what it means. I'm a big believer in getting out of your own way and letting your message breathe.
